In New Orleans, Mardi Gras isn’t a day on the calendar; it’s a season, a rhythm, and a shared inheritance. It’s also a reminder that this city knows how to balance joy and discipline, tradition and reinvention — qualities that shape everything we do at Strauss Massey Dinneen.
Mardi Gras traces its roots back centuries, blending French Catholic traditions with uniquely local customs that evolved here along the Mississippi River. The earliest recorded Mardi Gras celebration in Louisiana dates to the early 1700s, long before New Orleans became the city it is today. Over time, krewes formed, parades became pageantry, and the now-iconic colors — purple for justice, green for faith, and gold for power — came to symbolize the deeper meaning behind the celebration.
Those themes resonate with us. New Orleans has always been a place where seriousness and celebration coexist. This is a city that honors history, values craftsmanship, and takes pride in doing things the right way — whether planning a parade route or preparing for trial. Mardi Gras may look effortless on the surface, but anyone who knows it well understands the extraordinary planning, precision, and teamwork behind it.
As a litigation boutique born and built in New Orleans, we carry that same mindset into our work. We’re proud to practice law in a city that rewards preparation, respects resilience, and never forgets where it came from.
We wish our clients, colleagues, and friends a safe, joyful, and memorable Carnival season. Whether you’re catching beads on St. Charles Avenue or celebrating from afar, thank you for being part of our extended community.
Laissez les bons temps rouler!
